Stubbornness - My Own Roadblock

I think my own stubbornness is my biggest roadblock. I want to see things thru until the bitter end, no matter how right or wrong it may turn out. And believe me...some of my endeavors...well...they didn't turn out as well as I would have hoped. I can remember a time or two when I have said, "I should have listen to you."

Being stubborn has gotten me into trouble, especially when I think that I can do something. When I can't and fall flat on my face it's...well, frankly it's embarrassing. I don't like being made fun of or being the fodder for someone else. It hurts my feelings and makes me want to crawl into a hole somewhere never to come out again.

On the other hand, my stubbornness has done me some good. Refusing to give up in the face of extreme adversity is singularly due to that unyielding stubborn streak of mine. Believe me, if I had given up, these last few years would have sent me into the depths of despair and kept me there forever. Now, knowing that I can do something and actually do it really well is so rewarding. In fact, it secretly thrills me to no end when I can throw it back to all those naysayers and cheer my own success. I just love these "I told you so" moments because it shows others that no matter what they do to me, I am a survivor!

As an adult, life is nothing more than a series of detours with an occasional and unexpected road construction thrown in for good measure. As children we have few worries, but being a grownup...well, I've learned to put on my seatbelt and tune into my own personal GPS to navigate those potholes and road blocks!

  1. Great post--I think my stubbornness can also be one of my biggest road blocks as well!! I keep asking myself how long it will take to learn that lesson! Cheers, Jenn

  2. I really needed to read this today. There are times when I feel like giving up on a particular project, and no matter how frustrating it is I won't. There have been draw backs to continuing it, but what else have we got in life but our dreams?
